What should I do in an elevator accident?

1. Vertical elevator failure

As a vertical means of transportation, elevators may cause dangerous accidents such as trapping and falling of passengers in the event of a malfunction.

Emergency Points

When trapped in the elevator, you should immediately use the alarm bell, walkie-talkie or telephone in the elevator to contact the outside world and wait for rescue. If the alarm is ineffective, call loudly or slap the elevator door intermittently.

When the elevator suddenly stops, don't try to climb out the door to prevent the elevator from starting suddenly.

If a fire occurs during elevator operation, stop the elevator on the nearest floor and use the stairs to escape quickly.

If the running elevator enters the water, the elevator should be driven to the top floor and the maintenance personnel should be notified.

When the descending speed of the elevator suddenly increases or loses control, passengers should bend their legs slightly and lean their upper body forward to reduce the impact of the elevator falling.

Expert reminder

Do not take the elevator without the "Safety Inspection Qualified" mark.

Be careful not to overload. When overloaded, the alarm in the elevator will sound, and overloaded passengers should consciously get off the elevator and wait.

In emergency situations such as earthquakes and fires, it is strictly forbidden to use elevators, and fire escapes or stairs should be used instead.

2. Escalator failure

Improper use of escalators can easily lead to accidents such as pinching, hooking, falling, and falling.

Emergency Points

In the event of an emergency such as a fall or clothes hooking on the escalator, passengers should call for help and ask the staff to stop the escalator immediately. Other passengers should grab the escalator and stand firm to prevent the escalator from suddenly stopping and causing a fall.

Expert reminder

Do not lean on the apron boards on both sides of the escalator, and the body should be more than 5cm away from the apron board and the edge of the steps to prevent clothes from being caught.

The frail elderly and children must use the escalator under the support and supervision of adults.

It is strictly forbidden to stick your head, hands and other parts of your body out of the escalator, so as not to hit the outside objects.

There is an emergency stop switch at the entrance and exit of the escalator, which is only used in emergency situations.
